Tuesday's turn-a-round

Well, it took longer than it should have, but you all are probably familiar with the book "if you give a mouse a cookie". That's what happened here. I emptied the closet onto the table, started sorting, had to come upstairs to get the other tubs that I was sorting sewing stuff into, took them downstairs, that meant re-arranging tubs which meant I had to go back up to find some empty ones I had in one of the bedrooms, when I did that I found the box of winter decorations which I needed since I took all my fall stuff down & filled one of the tubs with that......
Well anyway of all the stuff that I pulled out of the closet, not one thing went back in. Garbage, goodwill, scrap pile & give-away. I have a few tubs of sewing stuff that will go in a different place.
The closet is now filled with my seasonal decorations, home decorations that I'm not currently using & baby/little kid toys that I've saved for grandkids & visitors. (And yes, I know I still have too much stuff I've saved!)

While I was in the middle of trying to finish all this, I also was in the middle of doing a quick pick-up to my living room, pulling the chairs out to vacuum & the thought hit me that I sure wished I could change things around a bit..... So when my sister dropped by for a bit, I said hey, what do you think it would look like if I moved the couch..... so another delay while we re-arranged the living room furniture, then I had to do vacuuming where it had been, then I had to get rid of a few more things & clean up a bit more, and whoo whee! Not only did I get my closet finished, I got my living room all vaccumed, re-arranged & cleaned up too!
I realize that you don't know what it looked like before (thank goodness!! LOL!!) but here's what it looks like now.

I have always loved re-arranging my furniture, but never tried the couch in the middle of the floor thing before. Everyone loved it because they could all sit closer to the fireplace!

  1. It looks nice! I love to move things around here too. I don't like cleaning out the closets very well tho!

  3. I like your closet with seasonal things--mine are in the attic! I love your living room arrangement close to the fire place! That could be your seasonal change, too! I haven't had a chance to start my closet yet, but I will take a picture!

  4. I have a closet that needs cleaning out. Wanna come help?-LOL! You are smart to tackle that problem and it looks so good now! Love the new arrangement too. Looks cozy around the fireplace. We moved our piano for union mtg. and I was shocked at the dust. Guess it's a good thing we've got mtg. once a month now, or this house wouldn't get cleaned like it needs to be-ha! Maybe I'll get inspired to re-arrange things now.:)

  5. It looks great...though I don't know what it looked like before. You have been very ambitious...I thought that only happened in the Spring. ; ) I used to love to rearrange furniture. I was famous for doing that when I was a girl at home and I continued that trend until the last couple years. I hurt my back a few times and now I can't do it without Andy's help. You did excellent with the sorting and cleaning of the closet. Very neat and orderly.

  7. aaaahhh! Yes, Kitchen zone. This is in addition to tho!!! I can do zones & just maintain fine, but If I want to get all my house in order, I have to do more, at least part of the time!

  8. Looks great, and since everyone wants to sit close to the fire place all winter long, it works! (besides, now you see the best side of the couch first! tee hee hee)

  9. And the rest of your family does a double-take when they walk in... "are we in the right house??"

  10. V.nice! Looks good. I had to rearrange my living room because my piano was against the wall that face the outside hallways, and when I played it would go right through the hallways into the neighbors apt. I guess Josh's (neighbor) couldn't really study when I was playing. So I moved my piano to an inside wall. :P

  11. I had to chuckle all the way through the post. Isn't that the way it is... one thing leads to another, to another, to another. It does feel good when it's all done. But did you find any chocolate hiding anywhere?

  12. @Carin...LOL! NO :( :( and I looked & looked. I had some hidden away, and I either can't remember where I put it, hid it too well, or someone else found it. bummer!
