Kyrie came to spend a week

Kyrie came to Grammie & Grandpa's house to stay this week! She's been here by herself several other times, but always when the kids were all home on vacation from school. It's a little different all day with no one to play with! We've tried to entertain... we went shopping for some new shoes... came home with TWO pair, plus two pair of socks, and several items she picked from the dollar shelves at Target! We had to go back again the next day to exchange something, so she entertained herself by trying on most of the PINK gloves & hats on an end rack while I looked thru the sale racks. Guess she got enough shopping tho, because when Jeanne asked her if she wanted to go to the store with her later that day, she said no!

Can't go wrong with pizza and pop... Macaroni & Cheese is the other thing to be sure to have on hand!

It's pretty quiet around here with all the kids in school... Things gear up a little when they all come home, dump out the dress up/costume boxes, and start planning what to wear for Halloween!

Kyrie hadn't went trick or treating before, so this was a first. She had a hard time deciding which costume she wanted to wear... and by the time it was finally time to get dressed, she was confused enough about the whole thing, I wasn't sure she was going to go at all! By the time the other kids started dressing up, she decided she could too, so it was the princess dress, and Relyssa found a fancy bag for her treats, and she was all set. She came home with plenty of candy to keep her busy the next day, and a new appreciation for dressing up!

On Thursday was her 3rd birthday, and she went with me to our "girls scrap" lunch, and we sang happy birthday to her. Friday eve we headed for Sidney to take her home, and for a fun birthday party on Saturday!

A new beginning!

We're really going to miss Jeanne, but we're so happy for her! Last week she applied for and immediately got hired for a CNA/MA position at the hospital in Sidney NE. She left with a pickup load of her things today, and starts work on Monday. She's always shared an apartment, or lived with someone else all the time she was in collage or working then when she was done with the last nanny job, Grandma J asked her to move back & live with her so she's really looking forward to actually having her own place! She's looking forward to being close to Kyrie & Trey, and I'm sure they'll enjoy having Auntie Jeanne there too!

Favorite Books and Authors

I love to read, and can't remember a time when I didn't. My mother and grandmother were avid readers, and I have favorite books I remember them reading from childhood. I'd like to know some of your favorite books and Authors.
To start, 3 of my favorite Authors, and I love all their books, are:
Karen Kingsbury
Nicholas Sparks
Luanne Rice.
I'll add to this list from time to time. Please add yours!

It's Fall in Nebraska

It's cool weather here! The kids are scrambling for jackets in the mornings for school, and although many of the trees have lost leaves already, finally with sunny days after rain we're seeing some color. The grass is really green, and there are still lots of flowers blooming. Seems kind of strange, but hey, I prefer flowers in October to snow!!
I had a good trip to ND to see Dalayna, Wade & Jessi. Unfortunately I forgot my camera... what a horrible thing!! I took some pictures on Dalayna's camera, but will have to wait for her to get them to me. I was hoping to see fall colors on this trip, but it was pretty much the same as here, many leaves had fallen because of rain & wind. Ironically I saw "fall" in the road ditches!! I wished I could have had a picture of that. In SD, along #50, the roadside grasses/weeds were a riot of color- purples, reds, greens, yellows & oranges. I took Meshayla, Morgen, Kara and Kaela with me. The kids had fall break Thurs & Fri from school. Kaela was NOT impressed... 'Mom, do we have school NEXT Thurs & Fri"? "yes- why?" Well, I do not think we need to stay home!" O.K. girl, I hope your that happy to go to school when you're 15!

I missed seeing Harriet & Charlotte by about an hour, they stopped by Dalayna's, hoping to see us, but we weren't there yet. I did talk to Charlotte on the phone after I got there, and she sounded like she was settling in fine! There are NE connections in the area where she is, so she didn't feel too lost! Harriet was getting ready for some surgery this week, so while she's recovering from that, Charlotte will be helping out the sisters in the field where Dalayna and Wade are.

This weekend is our 2 day scrap, Friday and Saturday. Jeanne has a job interview in Sidney on Saturday, and then she will be bringing Kyrie back to Kearney to spend the week with us. On Friday night we'll all go out to Sidney for Kyrie's 3rd birthday party on Saturday. It's going to be a busy (and hopefully fun!) week.

Our TV spots continue... sometimes Luanne and I walk out of there shaking our heads, or cracking up laughing about what we must have looked/sounded like!! Today we showed how to make a fun (fast!!) little journal/album. We have to have everything pre-cut, lined up and ready to put together, because 4 minutes is NOT very long! We have done some fun projects tho, you can see them on our web site. Next week we're going to start doing scrapbook pages for one of the anchor gals that wants to learn to scrapbook. That may be a challenge in 4 min. too! MAY??!! WILL BE!

When your work is your hobby...

Our "store" area, and the rest of the room filled with tables of busy scrappers and tons of scrapbook supplies!
Last weekend Luanne and I took our scrapbooking "store" to vend at a scrapbooking retreat camp about 75 mi. from here. There were around 100 ladies (and 1 man) there. We took extra tables along so that we had plenty of space to work too. It was pretty low-key & relaxing, they fed us 3 meals a day, and all the coffee in-between we wanted :) The camp has cabins/dorm area for sleeping, so everything is right there. Since we have a trailer now to haul & store our supplies in, it makes vending so much easier & less time consuming.

Baby Jessi

Dalayna sent new pictures today, and this baby girl is SO cute I have to share! (does that sound like a true grandma?) I am so anxious to see them again, and it looks like I and some of the kids will be going to Fargo the weekend of the 19th, as they have Fri. off school. Jessi is a little over 8 mo. now. The picture with great grandma Cilla was taken in Aug, and there's one with her first pigtails.

She's 16!

Last night after bible study we had a surprise birthday party for Relyssa. I did Ice cream & cake and banana split bar. The group pix includes Ryan, Relyssa, Lorene, Kayleen (Ryan's girl friend) and Kenneth, Ryan's friend and room-mate. The pix of Relyssa and Lorene together is a tradition...Shelley and I have pix of the girls together every year on their birthday. They are just 3 mo. apart.
