We had a great time. Luanne & I did a taco salad supper, easy to make a huge batch of. and not much work. Add watermellon & grapes, along with cake & ice cream, a warm late summer evening with our family & friends, what more could you want?
Oh, so you really just wanted to see pictures of the cake eh?
Well, for my first attempt I think it turned out pretty well. Made some mistakes, nothing serious, learned some things, TO do, and NOT to do, far from "perfect" but the girls liked it and it tasted good, so that's all that really mattered, right? That I got lots of compliments was a bonus, although maybe everyone was just being nice!
It really was fun, I think I'm hooked. Can't wait to do the next one!! Oh yes, I also canned 3 batches of grape jelly today, and although I ended up leaving for the party with a few dirty dishes & the remains of the gum-paste misc. on my counter, I managed to keep my kitchen reasonably clean during the process. YEA!! Now that really is an accomplishment :*) Unfortunately my hands didn't fare so well, they are several shades & blotchy with red frosting dye!
Here's a couple more of the "twins" birthday party pictures. Yes, they both got "chucks" for their birthday!
It looks GREAT! That would be fun to watch sometime! I took a cake decorating class, but that was just before I moved to OH so I never put it to use!
ReplyDeleteHey, great job. Those young kids are sure growing up fast! My granddaughter Christina (Curt & Vicki's) turned 12 on the 13th.
ReplyDeleteLove ya',
Sharon M, Valentine
Very cute! Kyrie says "Yes! I want that happy birthday!"
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely have to borrow the stand for her cake!
Yeah, the cake plate definitely helps the cake out lol! Remember, I have these in 3 sizes, but did discover that you don't want to use too tall a cake on them (this one was about the limit) they are not all that stable since the bottom is small & they are light-weight!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, fun party and Good cake! Even if the party girls did take the best layer and smash in their faces! They'll grow up someday!
ReplyDeleteLovely cake! I must be really out of date.......what are 'chucks' and why are they so special?
ReplyDeleteLynisha's cakes are fabulous! And you did great, too! But I'm kinda like you. I'll take that pie or the watermelon over cake most days.
ReplyDeleteJeanette; Chuck Taylor shoes (The black ones the girls have on in the bottom picture...and personally I have NOT A CLUE why they are so special! LOL! Check out the earlier post "Glimpses of Meshayla Rose".....

Looks awesome. I bet it tasted good also.
ReplyDeleteOh, I thought those were the converse shoes that were popular when I was their age (did I just write that?). Great job on the cake. That cake stand is the coolest!
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks great mom. I remember a buterfly one you did for one of my birthdays that turned out really cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute cake! I love the Mary Englbright theme too! I had to laugh as one of the girls in our Wed. night mtg. who is about Meshayla's age, came into mtg. with the same shoes and I immediately thought of you! Guess the shoes are the latest craze!:)
