ReplyDeleteWe are loving corn from the garden too...but dreading that job!!! We enjoy it for the rest of the year and usually forget about the cleaning up part (a little bit)!
ReplyDeletelooks yummy!
ReplyDeleteMine was tomatoey and beany, and a little peppery too! And never mind the cucumbers - I'm in a real pickle!
ReplyDeleteThe corn does look good and yummy.
No baby yet, either - she's not as interested as the others in arriving early, I guesss!
@ Lanae--good one :*) And, at least you made it past the 10th..she just wants D. there!
ReplyDeleteohhhh...this brings back memories of shucking corn at my grandparents in Kentucky. Hours and hours of working with that corn. I didn't particularly enjoy it as much as I sould have (what kid does??) at the time. But now I would give anything to be able to go back to that time and listen to my Grandfather tell his stories. Excuse me while I go grab some kleenex. ;)
ReplyDelete(I never cease to be amazed at the flood of memories/ emotions that seemingly innocent and benign pictures bring back.)
Tell me, did you shuck it all by your self, cut it off, bag and freeze it while making wedding favors, finish up wedding decorations, cook a wedding cake and finish sewing the wedding dress?:) You're an industrious woman. Can you spare me 1 little bag? By the way I froze 2 pints of blueberries today.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! No, My kids shucked it (rather reluctantly) I'm multi-tasking by still figuring out decorations in my head, Lynisha's doing the wedding cake, my S I L is putting zippers in the flower girl dresses for me. Tomorrow I'm making wedding programs.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to share a bag...however don't suppose it would mail very well :*)...yummy on the blueberries. I had 3 bushes last year and got some blueberries off them, but the rabbits ate them too now. Where's the boys with the 22's when I need them???
many hands make light the work, eh? that shower looked so soooo sweet. got tears to tell you the truth looking at those beautiful pictures..especially of the kiddos on the swing with their momma...one moment in time...so soon they up and get married, eh?
ReplyDeleteEthel, we cherish those moments with the little ones. Being a mom is the most wonderful and painful experience at the same time. Hang on to the hubby, because all to soon the kids grow up and we are back to two if the Lord wills. Maxine, my weekend was wonderful. I am trying to keep my mind off the back to school countdown.
ReplyDeleteWell... I just got back from 3 DAYS of "corn doing", the clean -up, meals in between, sleeping in a tent, rainy weather and getting my kids (2 & 4) interested in driving our crew crazy. They were actually pretty "helpful" in their own little ways... moving corn back and forth and such. We did 613 QUARTS!!!! YES, I DID SAY 613 QUARTS! We had a really nice time being with Jeffrey's realitives up at his uncle's ranch. His grandmother and all 5 of her kids were there and a few misc. of the third generation plus 4th gen. Felicity and Latham. Our kids wanted to go camping so we took our tent along and told them that was camping... so next time we go real camping they will be asking where the mountains of corn are!
ReplyDeleteYum... I L-O-V-E, love, frozen sweet corn in the winter!!! You'lve been busy. I have good memories of doing this project at Grandma's growing up.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get the time??????? But I must say I sure miss those days, except the cleaning up after. I do miss having a garden (sometimes!) The NW corn is just not the same tho' as good old IA corn. In 20 years I haven't had really good sweet corn!
