Slumber-less Party

The kids wanted to spend the night in the tent, so finally after several days I conceded.  After all, why not? I could have the house to myself, right?  A quiet evening, because they were so excited to be out there they headed out early.

RIGHT.

What's a little dragging all the sleeping bags, pillows & extra blankets out,
Some books to read
A million trips into the bathroom--
A dozen or so trips each in to get a drink
Don't forget the mosquito spray

ahhhh!  Quiet.  For about 3 minutes anyway, till it started all over.

Meanwhile, out in the tent.....

You don't think they really slept out there do you??
The next morning when I got up I found two of them asleep in the upstairs bedroom--the rest of them were helter skelter all over the living room floor.

At least they waited till I went to bed to drag their mess & bodies into the house, believe it or not I didn't hear a thing!

  1. It seems like when our kids wanted to sleep in the tent, a storm came up in the middle of the night and DAD had to go out and get the tent in!

  3. How fun! And how nice of them not to wake you up during their crusade back into the house during the night! ;) Sounds about like when Brad and I used to "sleep" out in the back yard - no actual sleeping got done and most of the time we ended up back in our own beds! Great memories!

  4. dear All Tented out,

It really was never about the actual SLEEPING, just the IDEA of sleeping in the tent right? And more about the Anticipation~preparations~Traipsing~playing parts!

  5. my kids want to camp out. Mom will probably stay in there with them. I figure they probably won't last 2 hours otherwise.

  6. Those are great pix. And they bring back some memories of camping out in Dad and Mom's backyard when we were little. Was always more fun in word than deed! ;)
