Welcome to our country home --part 1

Would you like a tour? We'll start with the main entry, which is technically the "back" of the house.

Entry--from the inside

What do we call this "room"? I don't really know! It's formerly the porch, now open to the kitchen. The floor is new -- I love it. I think it looks great, & it's low maintenance. Perfect.

We haven't had time to do the painting yet in these rooms. I'm thinking the colors will be pretty close to this tho, it just "feels right".

Here's my view from the inside looking out :)

Monday morning baking--I'll share if you come over!

To be continued.

  8. Looks like you are getting settled in! It looks very country like and relaxing. Took me back to my childhood when we didn't have close neighbors.

  14. I love your cozy house! I'd most likely call that back room a keeping room..it'll keep your keys, mail, purse, jams, etc.!!

Definition:A keeping room is a small room off the kitchen, dating back to Colonial times.

  15. Dear Cooking Up A Home,
WOW! You are SOOOOO much furthur along on the settling in part than I am... I was just getting ready to post some pix of our new house but now I'm thinking they are going to look SO disorganized and undone... oh well, this IS where we are at at the moment. I'm so glad you are loving where you are.

That country place is one of my very favorites so I'm so glad you are making it into such a sweet, beautiful home! I guess being married in that barn means there will always be a bit of my heart tied there... and a little bigger part that thinks someday I'd love a place in the country just like that.

  19. Absolutely beautiful, Maxine! You don't need to change a thing as far as painting and colors. I think it looks lovely just the way it is. But also understand if you have something different in mind to make it "yours". Oh... and the "keeping it real"... I think I might have to post a few of my "real" pictures and you'd feel much better. Ha.
