Lazy days of summer

  • Beans from the garden to pick & freeze every couple days
  • One batch of cauliflower from my garden
  • LOTS of onions from my garden
  • LOTS of peppers from my garden
  • The tomatoes have been a bit slow, and are rather small but they are DELICIOUS!
  • My flower gardens do overflow with weeds
  • The 2nd motel installation in a month is done
  • Too many things going on I haven't even got to have my grandkids here this summer
  • I went from posting an average of every other day to once a week
  • At least the "52 weeks" challenge kept me posting at least one x a week
  • We actually got a 4 day "vacation" all together that wasn't convention
  • I can't believe how painful a pulled/strained leg muscle is, how much it slowed me down, and how long it takes to heal
  • I have never in my life taken more than 2 "Tylenol" at a time for pain killers, and I was taking 4 Motrin every day (night) and at least 2 during the day
  • I know it's finally on the mend when it's back to my foot hurting more than my thigh.
  • School starts this coming Monday. One Senior, a 9th grader, a 6th grader, a 5th grader and a 3rd grader.
  • The 9th grader & 6th grader are homeschooling this year.
  • Leon went to get a pickup load of corn this morning
  • I'm going to be freezing corn all day
  • My kids are going to hate me (AGAIN) because they will have to help
  • Next winter they will beg for me to cook corn, because "It's SO good mom..."
  • This is so boring, unproductive and I'm getting off of here right now to go clean my kitchen & get ready to make a mess
  • How can such a busy life sound so boring when I try to write it out?

  1. "boring" and "lazy days of summer" .... I beg to differ!!!!! Everything but boring and lazy. I think the lazy days of summer should be changed to the CRAZY days of summer!!!!!!!!!!

In fact, I'm tired just reading about your "lazy" summer days... I need a nap now, LOL!

  2. Lol, whoever coined the phrase "the lazy days of summer" obvously didn't have kids, a house or a life.

BTW: I'll be looking for some of that corn whenever you guys make it up here. You can't deprive your pregnant daughter.

  3. Hardly boring! You're busy, busy, busy! I think I need some of your motivation/energy. :) Haven't tried growing Cauliflower, I have broccoli in my garden that is doing great though. My mom and sisters have a "corn day" and freeze corn. I'm too far away to help or to get any good corn. It's a lot of work, but definitely worth the effort!

What program/curriculum are you using for homeschooling? Right now I'm thinking I will homeschool my kids....have 2 years before I have to make a final decision. But the pros are outweighing the cons right now.

  4. yes, I totally agree on the "CRAZY" days of summer thing. There has been very few actual LAZY days around here!
Dalayna, wish you were here to help with corn, but yes I will bring you some.
Jenelle, I wanted broccoli, but when I got my plants I couldn't find any left (I was kind of late getting stuff in)
I also sent you a message on FB on the homeschooling.

  6. I was thinking the same thing as Carin...there is no such thing as "lazy" days of summer anymore. Or were there ever!

Hope your leg is feeling better, there is nothing worse that physical pain that slows us down when there is so much to do!

  7. I really can't even come here and look at your list... you are too busy, lady, and on painkillers as well!

I think the same thing when I go to post a blog... who really wants to hear about my boring everyday life? You keep it all sounding so interesting, though.

  8. Oh yummy, I'll come help with corn! LOL wish I could. I do have the next two days off but gass money this week is saved for our prenatal class. I have tomatoes here and squash is getting bigger. The 9th grader can come down and do her baby care class here, I'll work with her on math which we know is her favorite subject.

  9. I am a little jealous about the homeschooling. Maybe I can go back to that sometime. The reality is unfortunately, someone would need to step up and do some of my jobs. I do miss it. This will be my first time in 26 years that I haven't had a child home all day. :(
