31 and 32 of 52 weeks

The end of July we celebrated my Grandpa's 95 birthday. He is in a nursing home and has Alheizmers. Sometimes it was a bit confusing & overwhelming for him, but mostly he seemed to enjoy it. He dosen't remember our names, and only remembers some faces, but if we tell him we're "his kids", then it's all great!
Grandpa & Grandma had 5 boys. These two are the only ones left. They both got married around the time or after I did, so their kids, my only cousins are my kids's ages. I thought it was fun to see this picture of us together, I think we definitely look related! Grandpa has 4 other grandchildren, including my brother.

Meshayla's home! Last week on Thursday we went to Denver to pick her up at the airport. The 3 younger kids got to come too. They were so excited to see her, and I *think* Meshayla was quite happy to see them too!

Here's mom and dad with our girl back after 2 months! (I have NO clue why my mouth is open in both of these pictures!)
After we finally got out of the airport (minus luggage....) we went to Sidney to our daughters, then Friday we went camping at Ogallala for the weekend. Next week coming up.....beach play and jet-skiing!!

  1. What an awesome experience for Meshayla!! She'll have life long memories from that trip! We're going camping next weekend at Lake Mac....can't wait!! :) Do have a preferred camping spot?

  2. This year we camped on "North shore" and I didn't like it. We were in the middle of everyone else. Last year we camped on the lake on the east side of the dam, and it was quiet and beautiful! (I just thought it was a long way to drive over to the beach) Sometime I'd like to drive all around the different areas, and see what they all are like. I'd sure like to hear other's opinions on camping areas, because we hope to go again.

  3. Unless you pull your camper down on the beach / sand area, North Shore has the only reserved camper spots at Lake Mac... (AS FAR AS I KNOW!) And if you don't have a vehicle that you can trust to pull a camper through the sand... well... you can always pay to have it towed! If you're tenting it, just go to the north side of the lake, and check out all the entrances... Arthur Bay, Sandy Beach, North Shore, etc.

  4. Your mouth is opened because you are still so overwhelmed getting your girl back again! Welcome back to this side of the pond Meshayla!

  5. Thanks for the tips....we went last year for the first time. It's about halfway to meet my parents there. Think we're going to stay at one of the campgrounds.....hopefully it won't be too far from the beach & water. We thought about camping on the beach on the North Shore....but pretty sure we'd end up getting stuck!
